Episode 8: An Interview with Kevin Dua – 2017 Massachusetts History Teacher of the Year

Kevin Dua is an unconventional teacher through and through. He invests so much energy in creating a culture of trust, mutual respect, and fairness in his classroom.  In 2017, Kevin earned the prestigious honor of being the first African American History Teacher of the Year for the entire state of Massachusetts.

Since then, he has taken this humble honor and used it as a springboard to help support his students and fellow teachers of color enter and stay in education. This engaging and insightful episode illustrates what happens when a teacher truly demands high expectations and respect in and out of his classroom. His students rise to the occasion and flourish.
